As we move toward the end of 2021, it is now time for reflections. Most importantly, a time of thanksgiving. I hope you do this regularly, and if you don’t, it is not too late; you can join the gratitude team. There is no doubt that you have been through numerous challenges this year, some of which seem there will be no end, yet you are victorious. If you take account of everything that has happened to you this year, you know that going through each day, each week, and each month is by the grace of God. You are probably not focusing enough on the blessings of God over your life as much as you focus on the things you wish or desire to have accomplished in life.
Here is a good reminder ––– you are blessed, beyond what you think! Only if you could take account of your life and do some reflections, then you would understand the Lord has been so good to you. Regardless of your circumstances, I want to encourage you to keep hope alive and keep pressing on. I am confident that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it Philippians 1:6. Do not take your eyes off the countless and great things God is doing and continue to do in your life.
Take a quick journey to the beginning of the year – I mean, look back to January, do you think you could have witnessed a day like this in the twelfth month of the year? Whatever your response is, keep in mind those who are no longer alive. If you have nothing to be thankful for or, if you are not sure of the blessings, what about your life – the breath in your nostril? Don’t be wise in your eyes nor be proud in your heart for you to be alive today is only by the grace of God. Why is it difficult to see the blessings of God in your life? Even if you think you are yet to accomplish your itemized list, you should understand that God does not work based on your list. You cannot time God nor put Him on your term Isaiah 55:8.
Often, we fail to focus on the blessings of God due to current unpalatable circumstances. Although you cannot just ignore certain things in life, I encourage you to focus on the great things God is doing in your life. Focus on things that bring you joy so as not to allow the devil to rob you of peace of mind. It is good to take your eyes off your challenges and focus more on the blessings. At times, the devil keeps reminding you of your dreams that are yet to manifest, and since you do not have them yet, he makes you think they are impossible. If God is good, why do bad things happen to good people? If God is good, why is your dream not manifest? If God is good, why move from one challenge to another? These and many more are the questions the devil brings to your mind.
God did not promise you a worry-free or stressless life, but if you acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will direct your paths Proverbs 3:6. When God directs your paths, He positions you. He helps you navigate life challenges, and your success comes according to God’s timing. You cannot afford to be worried and stressed about life as if you have no hope. Instead of allowing your unaccomplished agendas or desires to pull you away from God, think about those things you have been able to accomplish. Do not allow your self-centeredness to take away your opportunity to be grateful to God.
When you allow gratitude to become part of your nature, you will see the beauty of nature which is the work of God’s hand. If you want to experience joy, you must keep the attitude of gratitude. It is the attitude of gratitude that helps you to see beyond the current moment. Learn to count your blessings; name them one by one, and you will live with the consciousness of gratitude all your life.
