Now you know there are different voices based on episode 6 “The Voice” and the most important among all the voices is the voice of God then it is not enough to know or hear God’s voice, but you MUST obey His voice. The benefits and the blessings are in obedience and not just hearing or listening. You can hear God’s voice and remain the same if you fail to act based on the instructions God has given you. Sometimes the issue is not that God is not answering your prayers, the problem is that you don’t want to follow His instruction(s). God’s instructions sometimes may sound strange and not even make sense because you try to process divine instructions with earthly wisdom. If instructions do not make sense to you, you are likely not going to follow them thus the failure and the inability to fulfill your purpose.
Let’s look at the life of Abraham – Abraham when God told him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac in Genesis 22, if you read verse 2 “Then He [God] said take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” Perhaps, if this instruction was given to you or me the first thing that would come to mind could be “God you must be joking” you cannot please God through disobedience or half obedience because half obedience is still disobedience. Some if not many of the unfulfilled dreams and unaccomplished prophecies are a result of failure to obey God. Speaking of Abraham, did you know that his obedience to God earned him a special place with God. Genesis 15:6 referenced Abraham, “and he believed in the Lord, and He [God] accounted it to him for righteousness.” This was repeated in James 2:23 “…the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. And he was called the friend of God.” You have to believe the person who gives instructions before you can obey the instructions. Do you believe in God? If so, you need to obey His instructions.
In difficult seasons, the only and the most important voice that can benefit you is the voice of God. Make no mistake however, God can speak to you through any means so you should be ready at all times to hear what the Lord will say. You don’t want to miss any of the instructions God gives to you. If you look at the life of Moses even though God used him tremendously to deliver the Israelites from the Egyptians, yet he did not enter the promised land all because he failed to obey God. This took place in Numbers chapter 20 when the Israelites could not find water to drink, Moses called on God and God gave him instruction to “speak” to the “rock”, but Moses “struck” the rock instead.
If you read verse 12 “…the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” By the time you get to Numbers 28:18, God commanded Moses to lay his hand on Joshua as the man that would take the Israelites to the promised land. Whenever you fail to listen to God, or when you fail to obey God’s instructions His work will not stop instead God will find a replacement for you. While difficult seasons might not be pleasant seasons in life, it is imperative that you abide by God’s instructions because the blessings are packed into the instructions.
If obedience to God is critical to success, why is it difficult for people to obey God’s instructions? The answer is simple – God’s instructions sometimes don’t make sense to us. After all, human beings like to process things according to the world’s set standard and so if it doesn’t make sense based on such a standard then it’s not worth obeying hence revelation turns to information without realization. Failure to obey God’s instructions could hinder you from entering your promised land. Some of the circumstances you think are difficult seasons are tests. Therefore, it is essential that you wait for instructions and obey them accordingly.
